Review: Lovehoney Beaded Glass Butt Plug

  • Glass/Insertable Length: 3.5 inches/Circumference: 4 inches

I bought this toy entirely on a whim as I love glass vaginally so if I didn’t enjoy it as an anal toy then it’s still likely to get used in some way.

The packaging is tasteful and informative (as is standard for all Lovehoney’s own products), not cringey, and could be presented as a gift.

The toy was a little larger than I expected. For some reason I expected it to be smaller, even though looking at the dimensions on the product page it is actually about the same in circumference as most of my other glass toys. The shaft appears short enough to be ‘manageable’, and the ring on the end is pretty large – there is no way this toy will be getting ‘lost’, even by the most advanced anal players. It is a really solid, well-made and visually appealing toy. It also comes with a little velvety storage bag to keep it safe and dust-free.

When using this toy anally, obviously you’re going to need a fair amount of good quality lube (I suggest Sliquid Sassy), even though it’s glass which is so smooth it’ll slip in a lot easier than say a silicone plug. I found this toy very easy to insert after a little warm-up with a smaller toy. If you’re new(ish) to anal play like I am, then I wouldn’t reach for this toy straight away as it is very hard and not as ‘forgiving’ as silicone and other softer materials. Once in, I found this plug to be comfortable, nicely filling and the shear weight of the glass felt very sexy – I was definitely very aware of its presence! I find it easiest to wear this plug while on all fours as opposed to lying on my back, I just find it more comfy that way.

Like all glass, this toy can be heated up in warm water first if you prefer but I can’t usually be bothered to do this plus I’m quite happy to take it cold straight out of the toy box. The ring is a good size to hold onto and, should the mood take you, thrust the toy in and out. It’s really more of a dildo than a butt plug – there’s no way you could wear this for extended periods as you can’t sit down with it in and you can’t really walk around with it in as the weight of the handle means it just slides out, especially given the amount of lube I find necessary for bum play.

This toy also works great vaginally (obviously, thoroughly disinfect it first if it has been used anally). It may only have a little insertable length, but I found it to be plenty. The beaded effect of the shaft feels great around the vaginal opening in particular. Again, having the ring to hold onto really allows you to get a good thrusting action going.

Overall, I really like this little toy. It has plenty of uses and has all the usual plus points of glass but I would probably recommend it to more experienced anal players over beginners given its size and hardness.
