Review: Sliquid Organics Natural H2O Lubricant

  • Ingredients: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose (from Cotton), Aloe Barbadensis, Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Cyamopsis (Guar Conditioners), Extracts of Hibiscus, Flax, Alfalfa, Green Tea & Sunflower Seed, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid
  • Water-based, Glycerin and Paraben free, Cruelty free and 100% Vegan, pH balanced

I bought this lube after reading about the glycerin and paraben content of popular lubes being the cause of intimate irritation and some parabens also possibly being toxic. I’m very particular about what materials I put in my body toywise but overlooked lube ingredients as I figured they’d be more sensibly regulated – I was wrong. Since when does glycerin (a sugar alcohol compound) sound like a sensible thing to put in a vagina? I inspected the ingredients in my then staple lube (the very popular brand, Liquid Silk) and decided it was probably wise to invest in something more vag friendly. Because I love my vag.

I chose to go with something from the Sliquid Organics range after reading loads of really positive reviews. Initially I was put off by the higher prices of organic lubes but having suffered irritation and the occasional yeast infection that I now believe could have been caused or worsened by my choice of a cheaper lube, it seemed like a small price to pay in comparison.

Sliquid Organics Natural H2O

Sliquid Organics Natural H2O is water based and is the organic version of the popular Sliquid H2O Original. The bottle this lube comes in is lovely – it’s a bit like a posh shampoo bottle, less garish than the non-organic Sliquid products which all have bright labels, very classy and discreet so can be left on the bedside table without the worry of attracting too much attention. As with most Sliquid products, this lube is available in quantities of 125ml, an ideal size for travelling, and 255ml which works out as better value for money.

The lube itself is clear and an almost gel-like consistency (it’s not at all watery) but it’s thinner and far runnier than Sliquid Sassy (which is designed for anal) and its organic counterpart, Sliquid Organics Natural Gel. A good way to compare the two is that when applied to a toy, the Organics Natural Gel (or Sassy) will barely move unless rubbed in whereas this lube will run everywhere quite fast if you’re not careful. It has absolutely no taste or smell which is a definite plus point. It absorbs into the skin without leaving a sticky residue and doesn’t stain sheets at all. As it is water based it is also super easy to wash off after use.

I’ve used it with toys and during vaginal and anal sex and found it to be very comfortable and quite long lasting. Admittedly during certain activities it did need reapplying but then again we do go at it for ages so that might not be the lube’s fault! In particular I find it’s not very good for masturbating with my fingers on my clitoris as I require strong stimulation for quite a long time and this lube dries up before I’m even close. It can be ‘reactivated’ with saliva but even that doesn’t last as long as long as Sassy.

I have not felt any irritation or discomfort from using this lube and it definitely does its job so I’m a very happy Sliquid convert and can’t see myself buying from another brand… probably ever.
