Review: Lovehoney Nubby Textured Glass Dildo

  • Glass/Insertable Length: 6 inches Circumference: 3 1/2 inches

Ever since I bought my first, glass dildos have an absolute toy box staple for me. They are beautiful to look at, easy to use and come in such a huge variety of shapes that there is bound to be one to take your fancy! I own about 7 or 8 now and no two of them are alike.

The Lovehoney Nubby Textured Glass Dildo is one of the more unique looking ones in my collection. It is totally straight and not exceptionally girthy which are qualities that I’d normally avoid in a toy as I’m all about G-spot stimulation and looking at this, there’s no way it’s going to accomplish that feat. But oh my, check out the texture – that’s what got me intrigued.

The dildo comes in Lovehoney’s standard clean and well designed packaging – it’s not at all discreet but there are no gurning pornstars or cringey slogans in sight. Inside the box is the toy concealed within a velvety storage pouch and wrapped in a layer of protective foam.

The dildo itself is absolutely gorgeous to behold. The glass is flawless with no air bubbles and the colours, while a lot more subtle than in the product photographs, are still noticeable in the right lighting. It’s actually stripy and so, in my book, cute as hell! When I first unpacked it I spent a while just stroking it, completely fascinated by the texture. It felt so good in my hands that I couldn’t wait to get down to business.

I find this dildo great for warming up by adding a little lube and rubbing it over my clitoris and between my labia – I can’t really describe the sensation as I haven’t felt anything quite like it before. What I can say is it’s really, really good!

I have no trouble inserting this toy vaginally as I’ve been into using slightly larger ones lately, but as glass is so hard and cold (yes, I know it can be warmed – I prefer it cold) I can still feel all the little lumps and bumps. These are just the right size to be both noticeable yet not too prominent as to be uncomfortable. I have the Icicles No. 24 (the ‘tentacle’) which has a bit more girth overall and the nubs on that can sometimes feel a bit intense and feel like they’re scraping away at my insides (yep. ow.) if I haven’t warmed up before. With the Lovehoney dildo I can go from a ‘cold start’ and not encounter any unpleasant scraping. I can also thrust and twist with reckless abandon and honestly, it just feels great. It kind of tickles, but in a really good way.

A downside is, as predicted, it’s absolutely useless for G-spotting… but if it did have that prominent curve that I often crave then it probably would be as great for all the thrusting, swirling and swooshing that it does do so well. It’s swings and roundabouts. Still, as a result of that and while feels pretty great, sadly I can’t reach orgasm using just this alone. There has to be some clitoral stimulation going on at the same time or nothing really happens.

Another small flaw is that I’d love to use this anally but it doesn’t have a decent enough base (in fact it has no discernible base at. all.) so I don’t feel comfortable/safe trying that. Sigh.

Overall, I’m really pleased to have this dildo in my arsenal. If you’re into glass and heavy textures, this is certainly a toy to consider.

I remember when this was up for testing and everyone was going mad for it I felt very alone in wondering, well… why bother. I am coming round to textures on glass toys but poker straight with no head? I can only imagine uncomfortable poking, not g-spot pleasure.

I mean I get that the nubs are pretty and the colours are really cute but pleasure wise…nope, I don’t get it. I thought it’d maybe make a great massage roller, with all the little nubs working your muscles…but not really a great dildo? XD
